Everyone loves an underdog. As it turns out, even more people love a meerkat. To help Animal Planet promote the new season of Meerkat Manor, we created an outdoor campaign in New York City that put the beloved, furry family in the limelight.
As an added bonus, the family caused quite a stir and made it into the Daily News when HBO’s lawyers shot Animal Planet a cease-and-desist letter warning that the ads violated The Sopranos copyright. No legal action, or turf wars, came as a result and additional coverage began to circulate with publications and fans passionately siding with the lovable, tiny meerkats.
